Aspire Indiana Health is a nonprofit provider of comprehensive “whole health” services including primary medical care, behavioral health, recovery services and programs addressing the social drivers of health such as housing and employment. Aspire has health centers in four Central Indiana counties serving Hoosiers of all ages and walks of life.

Position Summary

The Medical Director of Integrated Primary Care, reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, will deliver direct patient care and oversee all integrated primary care practices within Aspire Indiana Health Clinics. Collaborating with operational, nursing, and behavioral health leadership, this role ensures high-quality, comprehensive primary care services for patients of all ages. The Medical Director will clinically supervise and lead a team of providers (physicians and advanced practice providers), fostering a collaborative and integrated approach to primary healthcare delivery.

 

Clinical Services Oversight

 

  • Oversees the delivery of comprehensive and integrated primary healthcare services to children, adolescents, adults, and elderly patients 
  • In collaboration with the CMO, provides input on the strategic vision of primary healthcare services, specifically in an integrated care framework, and develops and deploys the tactics to achieve this vision.
    • Collaborate with other clinical leadership and teams in identifying, developing and implementing evidence-based standards of primary care into integrated service delivery
    • Works with clinical and operational leadership to 
      • Advise on staffing needs, including recruitment and retention of primary care staff
      • Develop and deploy workflows that support seamless, high quality integrated care with an excellent patient experience.
  • Cultivate a work culture that emphasizes collective team performance, demonstrating Aspire's core values and positively impacting employee morale
  • Identifies education and training needed to support providers and staff in delivery of care
  • Provide regular supervision of provider staff and participate in coaching on assigned areas of responsibility

 

Direct Care

 

  • At least 60% of employee time is spent in direct patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team providing integrated medical services.
  • Participates in shared on-call duties as directed by staffing needs
  • Follows and models highest standards of provider behavior, including expectations delineated in Aspire policies and procedures,, timely and accurate documentation and billing, and collaborative, respectful, patient centered communication with staff and patients alike. 

Education/Experience/Licensure 

  • Graduate of a medical school accredited by LCME or COCA and completion of a ACGME accredited residency in a primary care field (family medicine, internal medicine, or pediatrics)
  • 5+ years of primary care practice experience. Experience in integrated settings, with MAT, and/or delivering primary care to Severely Mentally Ill (SMI) population preferred.  Demonstrated experience in caring for underserved populations strongly preferred.
  • 1+ years of administrative or supervisory experience in a medical department (preferably in an ambulatory care setting) strongly preferred.
  • Must have an active, unrestricted licensed to practice medicine in the State of Indiana
  • Must have a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate and State of Indiana Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)
  • Must meet credentialing requirements of Affiliated Hospitals
  • Must be Board Certified
  • Must have a current BLS certification, or renew upon hire
