Aspire Indiana Health is a nonprofit provider of comprehensive “whole health” services including primary medical care, behavioral health, recovery services and programs addressing the social determinants of health such as housing and employment. Aspire has health centers in five Central Indiana counties serving Hoosiers of all ages and walks of life.

Position Summary

This position will utilize a strengths-based, recovery-focused approach in a professional manner to teach adults living with substance use disorders the skills they need in order to reach their individual recovery goals and to reconnect to their community. This position will assist residents in identifying, obtaining, and maintaining resources and services to return to a less restrictive environment.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Provide case management and skills training services to clients toward overall goals
  • Teach critical skills (e.g. hygiene, personal care, safety, meal preparation, housekeeping, money management, social skills, etc.), as needed to reach the individual’s goals 
  • Teach clients how to use community services (food pantry, library, public transportation, etc.)
  • Assist clients in using available resources to obtain personal documentation (driver’s license, birth certificate, etc.)
  • Interact with staff and clients in a positive, helpful and professional manner via phone, email, video, or in person to effectively handle difficult situations with appropriate tact, respect and resourcefulness
  • Respond promptly and positively to clients, staff, colleagues and all others in a respectful, courteous and confidential manner via telephone, email, video, or in person
  • Foster positive communication and a team work atmosphere

 

Education/Experience/Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or a directly-related human service field from a college/university accredited by the US Department of Education highly preferred
  • In lieu of a degree, must have one (1) year experience in a service capacity to individuals in need (e.g. youth, elderly, physically, emotionally and/or mentally disabled, special needs, etc.)
  • Must possess/maintain a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance and a driving record that meets the guidelines and requirements of the organization. Must have the ability to use private car to transport self and others
  • Experience working with a 12-Step program or lived experience highly preferred
