Chief Clinical Officer/Chief Medical Officer (CCO/CMO)

 

Aspire Indiana Health is a nonprofit provider of comprehensive “whole health” services including primary medical care, behavioral health, recovery services and programs addressing the social drivers of health such as housing and employment. Aspire has health centers in four Central Indiana counties serving Hoosiers of all ages and walks of life.

 

Position Summary

The Chief Clinical Officer/Chief Medical Officer (CCO/CMO) holds a crucial dual role at Aspire Indiana Health, balancing quality of  patient care responsibilities with clinical and organizational leadership to shape the future of our healthcare services. This position will lead the development and expansion of primary care medical services, including OB, Pediatric, Dental, and other in-scope services, foster strategic partnerships with other health systems, and guide the professional growth of clinical providers. As a senior physician with a primary care background, the CCO/CMO is an architect of Aspire's clinical strategy, advancing our mission to provide integrated, high-quality care that focuses on the lives and wellbeing of the most vulnerable in the communities we serve. The CCO/CMO is committed to a culture of accountability, inclusion, compassion and a team approach.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a medical school approved by the Council of Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association required
  • MD or DO with board certification in primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, or related specialties strongly preferred 
  • A minimum of 10 years of clinical experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role 
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking and leadership in clinical service development, partnership building, and provider management
  • Strong understanding of integrated care models and the ability to lead interdisciplinary teams

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory and administrative experience in a public health setting (FQHC, CMHC, Health Department) is highly desired
  • One year of primary care experience with SMI  population preferred
  • Requires a high degree of health administration knowledge, safety awareness, teaching skills and leadership quality

 

Other Requirements

  • Maintain highly confidential information with professionalism
  • Meet all clinical obligations of the Center’s medical practice, including CLIA, HIPAA, Medical, State, and Federal regulations
  • Ensure compliance with State licensure laws & State medication administration laws
  • Display a commitment to community-based psychosocial rehabilitation
  • Master the Center’s EHR and other technologies supporting quality patient care and disease management as it relates to clinical documentation
  • Have the ability to empathize and be compassionate to patient needs
  • Be capable of exercising good judgment in crisis situations
  • Possess the ability to learn and/or operate relevant computer operating system environments, and the ability to operate a variety of office equipment if needed (fax machine, copier, scanner, computer, telephone system, etc.)
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines
  • Show appreciation for and ability to respond to cultural differences and adjust communication practices accordingly in order to minimize cross-cultural misunderstandings
  • Consistent work attendance and compliance with scheduled work hours (excludes approved FMLA absences)
  • Compliance with Aspire policies and procedures, as well as Aspire Indiana’s Corporate Compliance Program as it applies to individual job duties, the department, and the Organization
  • Exercise due diligence to prevent, detect, and report unlawful and/or unethical conduct by fellow co-workers, professional affiliates and/or agents
  • Display a positive work ethic
