Now interviewing for a part-time Prevention Specialist!

Aspire Indiana Health is a nonprofit provider of comprehensive “whole health” services including primary medical care, behavioral health, recovery services and programs addressing the social determinants of health such as housing and employment. Aspire has health centers in five Central Indiana counties serving Hoosiers of all ages and walks of life.

Position Summary

The Prevention Specialist is responsible for providing presentations to elementary, middle school and high school aged students and learning the required curriculum. This position must be able to have conversations with students, be courageous enough to call DCS hotline if needed and be able to work directly with school staff and social workers to schedule presentations, coordinate reports for students and be responsible for tracking all assigned presentation materials and technology devices.  This is a part-time seasonal grant-funded position.  The Prevention Specialist will be based out of our Kids Talk Office located in Anderson, IN, but will be required to travel within Madison, Tipton, Delaware & Hancock counties, as needed.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, education or a directly-related child development field from a college/university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education highly preferred
  • One (1) year of experience working in education, child welfare, criminal justice, law enforcement and/or social work highly preferred 
  • Knowledge and application of utilizing social service systems (school systems, child welfare, corrections, etc.) preferred

  • Strong ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle highly confidential information with professionalism
  • Must be able to respond appropriately and effectively in crisis situations by using good judgment and following Aspire protocols
  • Must exhibit the ability to work with targeted population, and possess knowledge of and ability to relate to community resources
  • Must possess/maintain a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance and a driving record that meets the guidelines and requirements of the organization
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel
